These are called Cinemagraphs
and I am in love with them.
When I was very young and started to create art and my medium was photography. I, sort of, became obsessed with the idea of freezing moments. I remember taking as many pictures as I possibly could of a single motion. Water falling, someones movement, what ever was in front of me and I would take the camera and watch that small movement over and over again.
However, I never did have any interest in video cameras.
These Cinemagraphs really do something for me.
The first time I saw one I just felt an instant connection with them.
THIS is the feeling I'm trying to portray in my photography, my painting, my ceramics.
This is it.
Those small moments, only there for those small seconds, then there gone.
But not here, not with the Cinemagraphs.
They are forever frozen, yet focusing on that one special movement, on constant repeat. Perfect.
I have no idea how to do these, I have no idea if this is my future project, I just don't know.
I only know that these really do speak to me.
